“Thank you so much for capturing our day. Your presence was very professional and calm, with your knowledge so appreciated! Thank you again, we are so enjoying the previews and cannot wait to receive the album!”

My first visit to the wonderful Somersbury Barn near Cranleigh in Surrey, and what a beautiful place to discover with the very lovely Charlotte & Edward! Sadly we had one of those unpredictable September weather days, where it was supposed to be glorious Indian sunshine, and instead came all the drizzle. Very frustrating for all involved but it did not dampen any spirits nor take away from any of the love, smiles and genuine warmth from this wedding.
Charlotte got ready at the absolutely beautiful Drummond in Albury, my first time at this little pub with rooms, and what gorgeous light we had in the prep room! All of Charlotte’s girls were on hand helping with just about everything ,and it was where I first discovered that Diptyque did hair perfume (or hair mist as it’s called) – cue me ordering a bottle of Do Son the moment I got home. Such a beautiful idea to reinforce a scent during the day.
The ceremony was held at St Mary’s in Holmbury St Mary, quite a famous church on a very steep hill, that most wedding cars struggle to drive up! Not a problem however for the super cool Land Rover Jeep that carried Charlotte and her Maid of Honour right up to the door! I couldn’t not mention one of my favourite images from this wedding, which was Charlotte’s father carrying the most STUNNING bouquet courtesy of Hayloft Floral, who is quite honestly a genius.

Sadly this particular church has strict rules about photographers being placed at the back for the duration, but it did allow for some lovely views to show just how beautiful it is inside! Tears were flowing (mainly from me) as Charlotte’s talented brother, played and sung a version of Simply the Best (Tina Turner) but in the style of Noah Reid from Schitts Creek. Utterly moving and so wonderful.
The rain came just as we arrived at Somersbury Barn but a fabulous group of guests kept the energy flowing and the fun going! Again the flowers on the tables were so pretty I just had to include a few in this post!
We rounded off the day with some very clever and funny speeches; cocktails and THAT cake cutting. Yes, there were some Military men present, so why wouldn’t you choose the sword?! Such a pretty cake for such a giant sword! It was soon my time to head home, but I couldn’t leave without grabbing a final shot of Charlotte & Ed under their custom name sign, in the beautiful greenhouse so cleverly decked out with furnishings, from the Surrey Wedding Company.
A brilliant day and a gorgeous barn, one I hope to return to very soon! Here are my favourites xxx
